Maria Goes Pink!

Just as the whole London is going Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

Maria is also going Pink in support of Breast Cancer Campaign!

Maria.com goes Pink with Breast Cancer Campaign!

Did you know that 1000 women a month die from breast cancer and that it remains the most common cancer in the UK?!* That is just shocking, and proves that there is a lot of work that still needs to be done! October is Breast Cancer Action month, and Maria is very proud to be working with Breast Cancer Campaign; starting today we will be raising money for this great cause! You could help us support BCC. All you have to do is play our Pink Bingo games and our Pink Casino tourneys!

Pink Bingo:
5 x Pink Bingo games per day at 16:00, 17:00, 18:00, 19:00 and 22:00 throughout October in Studio 60. 10% of all bingo cash stakes in these games will be donated to Breast Cancer Campaign. In addition to this, any players who win a 1 – 5 line prize in these games will get a share of £5,000! Click here for more details!

Pink Casino Tourneys:
Not only will you have the chance to share in the weekly £1,500 prize pool, but you will also be supporting Breast Cancer Campaign, as we will be donating 10% of losses (up to a maximum of £100 per person) to Breast Cancer Campaign!

Don’t be Scared: Get a Mammogram

For 364 days of the year I can speak and think rationally about breast cancer, and for many of those days I'm actively fundraising or trying to raise awareness about the disease.

But on day 365, I'm in a panic. For on day 365, I get my annual mammogram and, in between the procedure and waiting for the nurse to come back with the result, I get really, really scared.

In the 20 minutes or so that it takes for the doctor to study the images, my imagination takes me to dark and frightening places and I generally wind myself up into a frenzy. Everything bad flashes through my mind and invariably I end up seeing my little orphaned son crying at my funeral, his mother having lost her fight against breast cancer…

So far, thank God, this hasn't happened; I have stumbled out of the hospital five times, sobbing with relief, knowing I have a clear mammogram and another year to fight the good fight against the disease. I'm not a victim myself. Yet.

Girl Power at Maria!

The spice girls may have spiced up the world with their Girl Power antics – But women have held the power for centuries; such as Pandora, the witches of the world and of course Miss Ellie from Dallas!

This week we are celebrating Girl Power in our Pink – Girl Power Casino Tournament!
To participate all you need to do is play on Reel Steal, Geisha Wonder, Wild Witches, Dallas and last but not least Pandora's Box, between Friday, 14th October and Thursday, 20th October.

Not only will you have the chance to share in the £1,500 prize pool, but you will also be supporting Breast Cancer research, as Maria will be donating 5% of all losses to Breast Cancer Research.

Cranes spread wings for breast cancer hope

The crane is one of the mystical or holy creatures in Japan and It is commonly said that folding 1000 paper origami cranes, makes a person's wish come true.

Keeping this in mind, The Australian National Breast Cancer Foundation unveiled 8247 tiny bright pink paper birds, in the historic foyer of Westpac bank, in Sydney today.

Each of the 8247 pieces of origami represent a wish from every female staff member at Westpac to find a cure and to encourage Australians to get involved in research to find a cure for breast cancer.
